Markets in Bloom 🌷 + New Vendor at Fairlington

May 16th & 17th

Field to Table hosts four local farmers markets in the Arlington, Virginia area that provide goods grown, harvested, or produced within 125 miles of the markets. We are committed to providing fresh, high-quality products while facilitating a welcoming community atmosphere.

For the Weekend of May 16th-17th

Each week, AFAC volunteers collect food donations from farmers market patrons, as well as farmer’s excess food. This food is redistributed in the community to Arlingtonians facing food insecurity.

Weekly Vendor Spotlight: Penny’s Imperfect Pizza

Find Penny’s Imperfect Pizza’s video interview Friday on @westoverfarmersmarket!

Penny’s Imperfect Pizza is an artisanal frozen sourdough pizza business. They make our pizzas in Charlottesville Virginia, but their pizzas can be found throughout Central Virginia and beyond. Penny's Imperfect Pizza is a small-batch frozen pizza brand that features real ingredients, veggies they grow on their farm or sourced from local farms.

Their favorite thing about the market is sharing their pizza with as many people as possible and meeting customers and fellow vendors.

Their best selling pizza is their Garlic White Sauce Pizza with a microgreen drizzle made from broccoli microgreens they grow on their farm.

Seasonal flavors! They rotate seasonally based on what veggies are growing on their farm and locally!

Sustainability Initiatives: They use a local flour in all of their pizzas, veggies they grow on their farm, veggies, sausage and other products from local vendors.

Vegetarian options: They have at least 4 vegetarian signature pizzas on their menu and a rotating veggie pizza most weeks. Their signature veggie pizzas are cheese, Arugula Pesto, Garlic White and Mushroom Confit. Their current seasonal veggie pizza is a Sweet and Spicy Marinated Broccoli Pizza. They also sell Frozen Sourdough Pizza Dough so people can make their own pizzas at home.

Vegan options: They sell Frozen Sourdough Pizza Dough which is vegan. They are working on offering a "cheeseless" pizza and hope to have it soon!

Gluten free options: Most weeks they have a frozen gluten free cheese pizza, with a gluten free dough they make themselves. At times they will carry the gluten free dough with no toppings for customers to make their own pizzas at home.

10:00am-10:30am Storytime with the Master Gardeners!

For children ages 4-8, join the Master Gardeners for story time and a hands-on activity. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This summer, the Master Gardeners host a monthly children's series, The Sensational Small Space Garden: See, Taste, Smell, Touch, and Listen!

Together, they will read picture books about the five senses — Sight, Taste, Smell, Touch, and Hearing. After, participate in an activity using your senses and practice early gardening skills.

Our first topic for Sunday, May 17 is sight. We are reading Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature by Joyce Sidman with pictures by Beth Krommes. Each child will receive sunflower seeds in containers that may be taken home or directly transplanted into a larger pot or garden space.

9am-11am Chat with Master Gardeners

The Master Gardeners are available to answer your gardening and plant questions. Explore the Small Space Garden, and learn how to make a DIY mosquito trap.

Live Music: Swingology
