Fighting Food Insecurity in Arlington
As a part of Field to Table’s mission of fighting food insecurity in Arlington, we donate annually to Arlington Food Assistance Center and Culpepper Gardens.
Arlington Food Assistance Center: Since Field to Table’s inception, AFAC has sent volunteers to Field to Table markets for weekly pick-ups of donated produce from farm vendors and nonperishable foods donated by market customers. In addition to our annual monetary contribution of $10,000, our markets donate thousands of pounds of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables, which are immediately distributed to Arlington residents experiencing food insecurity.
How you can get involved: Donate nonperishable food items at the farmers market collection bins located at the market tables, donate to AFAC, or volunteer your time.
AFAC is hosting their 14th Annual Empty Bowls event on Supper Bowl Sunday! (2/8)! This event is a luncheon fundraiser featuring many delicious homemade soups made by chefs from local restaurants and beautiful hand-thrown bowls created by local area artists. Consider a sponsorship to be a part of the event! Use the link here!

Culpepper Gardens: Arlington’s affordable housing for low-income seniors, Culpepper Gardens has a garden dedicated to providing the aging population fresh, nutritious food. In 2025, Field to Table has donated $5,000 to Culpepper Gardens to support their free resident food pantry!

What happened to the music?
Wondering what happened to the music at the market? During the winter market, Westover does not host weekly musicians to protect freezing fingers, toes, and instruments! We will have musicians again in April!
Vendor Spotlight: Atwaters
Atwaters is an award-winning Baltimore-based purveyor of breads, cheese, soups, jams, and more! They craft all of their goods by hand, using fresh, organic, and seasonally local ingredients!
Want to preorder items to pick up at the market? Use this link!
Cheese: The only cheesemaker in Baltimore City, sourcing their milk from Palmyra Farm, where Ayrshire cows graze in the foothills of the Appalachians, they are proud to supply our market with delicious varieties of cheese!
Bread: Starting out in 1999 with just one kind of sourdough wheat bread, Atwater’s menu has expanded to everything that you see today! They grind their flour in house, making a truly delicious bread!
Jam: All of Atwater’s jam is made in a traditional copper pot by Jenna, Atwater’s jam expert since 2014. Trained by the original jam expert, Patty Pakley-Audia, Atwaters uses fresh berries and makes their own pectin from green apples rather than powders!
Pastries: Find seasonal rotations of carrot cakes, muffins, poundcake bites, and more (including gluten-free and vegan options) at the market!

Weekly Scavenger Hunt Activity!
Each week, we post a challenge for you all to find chalk drawings of fruits or veggies scattered around the market. Find all of them, and come to the market table for a stamp on your punch card (provided there). Once you get 6 stamps (you get one per week), you get a prize!
The weekly challenge will be posted in the newsletter and Instagram, which can be found, here!

Donate to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) at our Market Tables
Field to Table has partnered with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) to have donation boxes available each week at all farmers markets. Support the Arlington community by donating nonperishable food items (no glass, please) at our markets. Learn more.
AFAC is in most need of canned fruits, canned tuna, canned soups, canned vegetables, canned tomatoes, peanut butter (in a plastic jar), cereal, and plastic water bottles!
